Detailed Itinerary: 4 Days Rwanda Golden Monkey Tracking & Gorilla Trekking Tour Uganda

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali International Airport and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport, you will proceed to Volcanoes National Park located in the North of Ruhengeri via the dramatic and beautiful terraced hills of the land of a thousand hills. Lunch will be en-route. Transfer to the border point between Uganda and Rwanda at Cyanika then proceed to Kisoro town overlooking the virunga volcanoes. Dinner and overnight at – Gorilla Valley Lodge. Full Board. Breakfast not included on the first day.

Note: You will quickly and easily identify the driver to welcome you. He will be holding a signpost with your names on it

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest National Park – Volcanoes Park

4 Days Rwanda Golden Monkey Tracking & Gorilla Trekking Tour Uganda

After an early breakfast, head to the ranger station for briefing and by the mid-morning, start your gorilla trekking expedition in the lush forest vegetation of Bwindi national park. It is quite strenuous and requires fitness through the long hours of anticipated gorilla tracking, sometimes taking 2-7 hours of trekking. Other sights on the trails may include monkeys, birds and several butterflies. Spend utmost one hour with the gorillas and then retire to your lodge happy to have made the trip. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

By late afternoon, begin the journey back to Rwanda. Arrive at the park and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation is at Muhabura Hotel

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trek – Transfer to Lake Kivu

In the early morning, have breakfast at the lodge and then begin the tour to find the golden monkey in Volcanoes National Park. Golden monkey trekking lasts about 6 hours as you get to the jungle to watch the playful and beautiful golden monkeys. They are fast as they leap on the bamboo stems therefore be fast to capture those moments. Have lunch at the lodge and make the detour to the community project of Ibywachu. Later take the short drive to Lake Kivu on a cool stunning town of Gisenyi. Arrive for dinner and overnight at Paradisde Malahide Resort. 

Day 4: Lake Kivu relax – afternoon transfer to Kigali

In the early morning, spend time at leisure or take the boat tour to the Napoleon Island – a popular bat island and many other interesting things. Encounter fishermen boats as they sing to the sea while catching fishing in their traditional local boats. By afternoon, begin the drive to Kigali and final drop off.

The boat excursion is booked onsite and will be paid directly on-spot
