Detailed Itinerary: 4 Days Kidepo Wildlife Safari Uganda

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kidepo Valley National Park

Early morning at around 6:30am, your Uganda safari guide will pick you up at a place of residence in Kampala. After meeting and greeting, you embark on the long road drive northwards going past several local communities. You stop for breakfast (in case you didn’t have at your lodging facility) then continue with the drive to Gulu town where you have lunch. After lunch continue with the drive up to Kitgum town. From Kitgum be ready to have a 154km drive on a rough road to Kidepo Valley National Park. Arrive in the evening, in time for check in, refreshment and dinner at a prior booked lodging facility.

Day 2: Morning and evening game drive in the park

In the morning after breakfast, embark on an early morning game drive through the park in search for wildlife. Taking the Kakine circuit, you may come along wildlife like the Buffaloes (highest population in Uganda), waterbucks, Jackson’s Hartebeests, Rock hyrax, Elands (biggest antelopes), warthogs, Giraffes, Zebras, side striped jackal and many more. Some of the bird species seen here include the Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, cisticolas, secretary bird, vultures, crested Francolin and many more. After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and relax.

In the evening, get back to the jungle on an evening game drive. This time take the Nagusokopire circuit in search for more wildlife and enjoy sunset views. Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Morning game drive and evening nature walk

Early this morning, you have breakfast then embark on another morning game drive. On this day, you head north of the park going past the Nangea ranges, the Boma (breeding point for some animals in the park) and the Kidepo River-lined on the banks with Borassus palm. The drive on this circuit offers chance to see wildlife like the rare cheetah, Dik Dik (smallest antelope and endemic to Kidepo Valley National Park) and any other species. The Ostrich is seen in this side of the park. After the game drive, return to your lodging facility for lunch and refreshment.

In the evening, you embark on a guided nature walk along with an armed park ranger. Taking the East Kakine circuit, you will have a chance to get very close to wildlife and experience the true African wilderness. After the nature walk, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Return to Kampala

On this last day of your 4 days Kidepo safari, you have a very early morning breakfast then embark on a long road drive back to Kampala. You have lunch en route most probably at Kabalega dinners in Masindi. Continue with the drive to Kampala arriving in the evening.
