Detailed Itinerary: 10 Days Best of Uganda Adventure Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to hotel in Kampala

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, in Uganda, your Uganda tour guide will be there to welcome you and ensure all transfers.  After meeting and greeting, you then be transferred to a booked hotel in Kampala. The drive lasts about 1 hour depending on the traffic jam in Kampala.

In case of late night arrivals you spend the night at Boma Hotel in Entebbe.

Day 2: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala you will be driven to Kibale Forest National Park in Fort Portal the capital town of Tooro Kingdom which lies in the shadow of Rwenzori Mountains, the biggest mountain range in Africa. You will have lunch en route.

In the evening, you will visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a nature walk in the Frost Sanctuary where you will have the chance to spot some of the endemic Albertine rift species. Later in the evening you will be transferred to your booked Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 3:  Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast you start the day with chimpanzee trekking in the forest. It starts with briefing then after head out for the trek that lasts about 4-6hours with a maximum of 1 hour in the presence of the chimps.

During the trek, you come along different primate species including the black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkey and vervet monkey. Over 300 bird species have been recorded here and can be spotted during the trek.

After lunch in the afternoon, you will proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Upon entering the park you will take part in an exciting game drive as you make your way to Enganzi Lodge where you will check-in, have dinner and settle in for the night.

Day 4: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning you will rise early and head out on a sunrise game drive along the tracks of the national park, in the Northern side towards Lake George and Kasenyi Village. You may spot lions, elephants, buffalos, spotted hyenas, waterbucks, Ugandan kob, and perhaps the leopard though shy and rare to be seen.

In the early afternoon you will take the most exciting safari by boat from Mweya Peninsula along Kazinga Channel, one of the most popular sites in Uganda for its concentration of wildlife, bird’s life and opportunities for good photographs. On this boat cruise you will see plenty of hippos, buffalos and elephants as they are drinking along the shores of the channel.

You will have lunch and then continue your journey south to the Ishasha Sector, a vast savannah between the rivers Ishasha and Ntungwe. At sundown, you will head to Ishasha Jungle Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the Ishasha sector

Following breakfast you will head out with your driver guide on a morning game drive in the Ishasha sector where you might have a chance to see the tree-climbing lions mostly seen during the hot hours of the day as they lie resting on the tops of figs trees. You will also see several other animals then return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, your driver guide ensures a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You are driven past the scenic kigezi highlands on a drive that lasts about 4-5 hours.  The accommodation facility in Bwindi is dependent on the booked gorilla trekking permit sector. On arrival, you check in, relax and spend the night at a booked accommodation facility.

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest

After breakfast you head to the park headquarters for briefing before going for gorilla trekking.  You will follow the ranger/guides in a maximum group of 8 people as you search for the habituated family of mountain gorillas.

Once located, you will be allowed to spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas with a chance of taking photographs. After the trek, you return to the park headquarters where you receive a gorilla trekking certificate then after return to your lodge.

Day 7: Transfer from Bwindi to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast in the foothills of Bwindi Forest, you will check-out and travel to Lake Mburo National Park. Arriving at this savannah park, you have lunch then go for an evening game drive where you may spot wildlife like the impala, eland, topi, antelope, buffalo, and zebras. In the late afternoon you will make your way to Rwakobo Rock Lodge where you will check-in, have dinner and settle in for the night.

Day 8: Spend the day at leisure in Lake Mburo National Park

The eighth day of your 10 days safari in Uganda, you will spend the day at leisure.  After breakfast you may engage in optional activities like a nature walk for up close game viewing with possible sightings of wildlife like the zebras and the antelopes.  Optional activities are at an additional cost.

Day 9: Nature walk in Lake Mburo National Park then transfer to Entebbe

Early this morning, you have breakfast then go for a nature walking safari in the park. After having a very close experience with nature you go for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. After the boat cruise you then return to your lodge for a lunch break before transferring to Entebbe. Dinner is not included unless you order in advance.

Day 10: Departure flight at Entebbe International Airport

This last day of your Uganda wildlife safari, you have breakfast then after be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for a way forward flight. In case of late evening flights, we can recommend some extra activities including a visit to the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Meal plan: Breakfast
